Eastern Turkey
This Cultural tour is a parenthesis out of time, in a cosmopolitan country where all announces the transition towards other worlds. If Turkey is commonly considered as the crossroads of two continents and several civilizations, its Eastern part is the obvious frontier. In this area everything is in sublime juxtaposition with one another, times and landscapes coexist hand in hand harmoniously: remains of Ourartean, Roman and Persian civilizations, Armenian monasteries, Seldjuk mosques, cities with Arabic atmosphere... In this tour we suggest you to discover Turkey profoundly.
Fairy chimneys and antic sites
Here is an easy excursion accessible to everyone and a discovery of natural and archaeological sites of Cappadocia and Lycia, with the privilege of visiting those accessible only on foot. A truly enriching cultural exchange with the hospitable and gracious people of the villages we cross. We include two full days to visit Istanbul.
Istanbul
With one arm reaching out to Asia and the other to Europe, Istanbul is set on two continents. In this imposing site, Istanbul proudly preserves the invaluable legacy of its prodigious past while looking forward to a modern future. Fusion between the East and the West, past and present, Istanbul is a mythical city that the variety fascinates the traveler. Observing the sunset at the banks of the Bosphorus, you will suddenly realize why many centuries ago settlers chose to build here.
Anatolian civilisations
Turkey is one of the rare countries in the world offering such a density of historic sites. Prestigious or anonymous, they present harmoniously a subtle mixture of historic and biblical past as well as mystical and ethnic cultures. A voyage through the time…
Lycia: Trek & Sail
Here is a tour that we wanted unusual: in this area where winter climate is temperate, we combined trekking and cruising in a comfortably arranged gullet. As Turkey has been called “the cradle of civilisation”, on this coast with a rich history, you will discover the archaeological Lycian richness while following the trails made by shepherds, offering fascinating sea-sights. At the end of the day we join our gullet for overnight, in a different bay each evening.
Turquoise coastal sailing
Turkey has been a sailing paradise ever since man started to navigate. During this tour we discover sites that are inaccessible by road while enjoying sailing in crystal waters along the Aegean and Mediterranean coastline in a comfortably arranged boat with a full complement of crew. Itinerary 1: 15 days - Antalya – Marmaris. Itinerary 2: 15 days - Fethiye – Bodrum.
Cappadocia trekking
On this tour, we offer you to discover a fantasy of nature and almost another planet: a fairyland that the erosion of wind and rain built on a plateau covered of volcanic ash. Marvel of nature as well as historical heritage, Cappadocia shelters in its moonscape cave-houses and rock-cut churches of the first Christians. A voyage in another dimension...
Cappadocia and Mount Taurus
Due to its strange geological formations, Cappadocia is a unique area in the world. Hiking is the best way to fully discover the historical richness added to the curiosity of the landscapes. Situated in its centre, the Aladağlar is the most important massif of the Taurus range. Made of limestone, it presents a particular geology and its peak reaches 3756 meters high. Hike in an attractive topography, meet the local populations and share with them their old traditions are some of the highlights of this trip.
Mount Kaçkar
In the rainy and lush landscapes of northeaster Turkey the Kaçkar mountain range borders the Black Sea coastline. Extensive glacier and water erosion have given these mountains a craggy and rugged look. On this tour we hike through a timberland and through alpines meadows that grass and wild flowers blanket up to elevations of 2300 m.
Mount Ararat
Rising at the common borders of Turkey and Iran, Mt Ararat is the inactive volcano where, according to the Old Testament, Noah’s ark came to rest. Reaching 5137 m, it is capped year round with ice and snow. Experimenting this tour, you will obviously notice how the area surrounding has retained its natural beauty and the local population still engages in the traditional lifestyle.
Lycian way trekking
On this coast with a rich history you will discover the archaeological richness dating back to 8th century BC of Greek and Roman cities which are admirably preserved, with Lycian necropolis lost in the vegetation, or immersed at the bottom of a turquoise sea. On lands that Alexander the Great was the conqueror, you will enjoy impressive trekking sites while enjoying a truly enriching cultural exchange with the hospitable people of the coastal villages, and with shepherds who live with their families in isolated farms far from civilisation.
